We did our first open beta on november of 2023 and collected some great feedback from the players.
We had a few premises that we wanted to test out, and also got some suggestions that we never thought of.
To convey the urgency of the bomb ticking, we made it pulsate and accelerate as the time went on.
The players were too busy with the gameplay to pay attention to the speed of the pulsing animation.
We included a wick in the UI to show how much time has passed.
We didn't even discussed the feature of the player being able to honk.
They were appalled by not being able to honk at their opponents as a form of expression.
We implemented a honking feature.
The giant ball would stun the player and just keep rolling on it's predetermined path.
The hazard didn't mattered much. Since the ball wasn't destroyed on contact, it would just get in the way of all the players.
Once the giant ball hits one car, it gets destroyed. That way the player that wasn't hit has a real advantage to catch up to the other player. We also added a timer to respawn the Hazard.
We didn't think of players camping on any specific position.
The player could just stay at the high ground of the level, like a eagle on a nest.
Now when the Hazard spawns on the high ground, it throws the player away.
We have a fog on the lower level of the arena to convey the halloween mood.
The fog was too thick and it kinda looked like water.
We made the fog more transparent.
The player needs to hold the button for a second to select the stage.
Some players were confused by the delay and thought it was a bug.
We made the feedback more clear with a outline around the button that fills up to confirm the action.
